Notes: Phoebe, 2 years, thought to be Boxer mix. Phoebe is loving her time decompressing outside of the shelter. She had begun losing a significant amount of weight due to shelter stress. She will be heading to the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter for a few days (until Wednesday) but does not do well in the shelter environment. She is so calm and sweet in the home and has become quite the expert napper. She checks in on her foster mom periodically and loves when they go for a leisurely walk. Phoebe is such a smart girl. She picks up on training so well and is very willing to please.
Phoebe walks well on lead, has bursts of Boxer like energy, but for now is just loving the decompression time. She is house and crate trained, does well with all humans, but does need to be the only animal in her household. She is fine walking by other animals just does not need to have playdates and such. The adoption fee for a dog is $85 which covers a 1 year rabies vaccine and spay or neuter. All animals are altered before leaving the shelter if older than 16 weeks.
- Adoption of dogs is open to residents of Spotsylvania, Stafford, Caroline, Hanover, Louisa, Orange and Culpeper County areas of VA.
- Dogs that have been spayed/neutered are available for adoption to any location including out of state residents.
- To adopt you must be at least 18 years of age and provide a current ID.

Most of our dogs are strays, therefore we can only guess whether they are good with other animals or children by observing the behavior of the animal in the kennel and their interaction with the shelter staff.
